Summary of Events

Regime forces continued to lay siege on the city of Homs with thousands of civilians trapped inside as the bombarding has been ongoing for months. Thousands are trying to escape the city but have not been able as regime checkpoints and snipers executed and arrested civilians on the spot.

The random heavy shelling of Homs, Damascus suburbs, and Aleppo continued, as the Syrian army targeted the cities of Homs, Rastan, Qasir, Qalat Huson, and Talbiseh, the Damascus suburbs of Douma, Zabadani, Deir Asafir, Hraira, Zamalka, Saqba, Misraba, Hamouriya, Erbin and Qalamoun, and the cities of Indan and Atareb in the province of Aleppo.

Regime forces killed at least 50 today; 14 in Homs, 13 in the suburbs of Damascus, and eight in Hama.

The regime’s violations continued across the country as its forces shelled the town of Morak in the province of Hama and conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the city of Hama under the cover of heavy fire. It also conducted sweeps and torched houses in the town of Ihsem in the province of Idlib, opened heavy fire accompanied by several explosions in the city of Deir Azzour, shelled the village of Manshiya and city of Daraa, and opened heavy fire in the town of Nawa in the province of Daraa.

The UK authorities forced a Russian ship carrying attack helicopters bound to Syria to dock in its port. The transport of arms to Syria is sanctioned by the EU.

According to Egyptian and Iranian media sources, 15 Chinese, Russian and Iranian warships arrived this morning in the Suez Canal, in preparation for a joint-military manoeuvre with 90,000 soldiers to take place in Syria next month after Assad put an end to the revolution.
