Summary of Events
UN observers visited the town of Salqin in the province of Idlib and witnessed a demonstration that welcomed them. Another group of UN observers tried to gain access to the neighbourhood of Hajar Aswad in the capital but were stopped by regime fire.
The regime’s crimes across the country continued as it killed at least 46 people today; 14 fell in the province of Homs due to the heavy shelling of the cities of Rastan and Qasir, and the neighbourhoods of Qarabis, Bab Sebaa, and the Old City in Homs. Twelve people were also killed in the capital, while ten fell in the province of Daraa as regime forces shelled the towns of Tesil and Nawa and raided the towns of Saham and Heet amid heavy fire.
Regime forces shelled the villages of Maghara, Deir Sanbal and Ferkaya, and the cities of Khan Sheikhoun and Maaret Noman in the province of Idlib, raided the towns of Morak and Kafarzeita in the province of Hama amid heavy fire, raided the villages of Sagaqir, Ard Wata and Derbet in the province of Latakia, and shelled the towns of Bayanoun, Indan, Bayanoun, and Atareb in the province of Aleppo.
In the capital, regime forces shelled the neighbourhood of Qabun, raided the suburbs of Ateiba, and opened heavy fire in the suburbs of Douma, Ziyabia, Daraya, and Damir.
Defections took place in the city of Boukamal in the province of Deir Azzour, while clashes were registered in the town of Saham Golan in the province of Daraa and the Damascus suburb of Sbeina.
Security personnel raided the universities of Aleppo and Damascus in an attempt to end ongoing demonstrations and sit-ins.
