Summary of Events
Ten more bodies were discovered in the town of Houleh today, bringing the total number of victims in yesterday’s massacre to at least 98, comprising mostly children. The Syrian army continued to shell the town despite the visit of a UN observers’ convoy.
UN observers visited the town of Darkoush in the province of Idlib amid a massive demonstration that broke out to greet them. Another observers’ convoy tried to enter the town of Kafar Aya in the province of Homs but heavy fire from regime checkpoints prevented them.
Assad’s forces killed at least 70 people today; 25 fell in the province of Homs including ten bodies of Houleh massacre discovered today, 15 in the province of Idlib as ten bodies of executed defected soldiers were found, and seven in Damascus as regime forces opened heavy fire at demonstrations that went out to condemn the Houleh massacre.
Regime forces continued to violate Annan’s peace plan, as it shelled the city of Jabal Akrad and opened heavy fire in the village of Saqyat al-Kurt in the province of Latakia, opened heavy fire in the cities of Boukamal and Deir Azzour, raided the city of Hama and town of Marzef, and shelled the city of Ezaz in the province of Aleppo, the villages of Bwaida Sharqiya, Dmaina Gharbia, Jusiya, and Nizariya, and the cities of Rastan, Qasir, and Homs.
Regime forces also opened heavy fire in the cities of Saraqeb and Maaret Noman and shelled the villages of Srareef, Sallet Zuhoor, and Tal Aawar in the province of Idlib. In the province of Daraa, regime forces shelled the towns of Kherbet Ghazaleh, Busra Sham, and Lajat, and raided the city of Dael with tanks amid heavy fire.
In the capital, regime forces opened heavy fire at demonstrations that broke out in the neighbourhoods of Qabun, Qadam, Sinaa, Baghdad Street, and Nahar Aisha to condemn the massacre in Houleh. It also shelled and opened heavy fire in the suburbs of Zamalka, Hamouriya, Douma, Daraya, and Harasta.
