Summary of Events
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in massive rallies this Friday calling for the fall of the regime. Demonstration movements re-emerged again in the cities of Lattakia and Hasaka after waning for a few months, causing regime forces to open heavy fire in the neighbourhoods of Ghweran in Hasaka and Raml Janubi in Lattakia.
Violations by the Assad regime to Annan’s peace plan continued as heavy weaponry is still present in many cities, and the regime's forces remain persistent in targeting civilians daily. The Syrian Army shelled the town of Saraqeb in Idlib and the neighbourhoods of Qosur, Baba Amr, and Sultaniya in the city of Homs, and opened heavy fire in the cities of Boukamal and Deir Azzour. In the province of Daraa on the other hand, regime forces shelled the town of Lajat, opened heavy fire at demonstrators of the Palestine refugee camp and the towns of Inkhel and Jassem, and conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the town of Nawa.
The Assad regime killed at least 46 today; seven of them fell in Idlib, six fell in Hama, and an entire family of four members in Aleppo as regime forces raided their house and executed them. The Assad regime has killed at least 234 civilians since the arrival of the UNSC observers.
In the capital, regime forces killed at least ten civilians in the Damascus neighbourhoods of Kafarsouseh and Tadamon and conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the neighbourhood of Hajar al-Aswad, while a great explosion was heard in the neighbourhood of Qadam. Assad’s forces also opened heavy fire in the suburbs of Sayeda Zainab, Malaiha, and Qatana, conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the suburbs of Qabun and Yabrud, and raided the suburbs of Saqba and Jarajir.
