Regime forces committed new massacres as they heavily pounded the towns of Ariha in the province of Idlib and Rastan in the province of Homs leaving scores of civilians dead and wounded. Civilians issued a distress call fearing the regime's planed security crackdown. Snipers were stationed to prevent people from helping the wounded.

Seven civilians were burned to death by the regime’s security and death squads in the city of Boukamal in the province of Deir Azzour. Meanwhile, Assad’s forces opened fire at an Aleppo-Deir Azzour passenger train, killing and injuring many.

Assad’s forces killed more than 80 people across the country today; 12 fell in the province of Idlib, five in the province of Homs as it continued to bombard the besieged neighbourhoods of Sultaniya, Khaldiya, Jouret Sheyah, Qarabis, Baba Amr, Ghanto, Old City, and Qosur in the city of Homs and the towns of Rastan, Qasir, Talbiseh, Jobar, and Krak des Chevaliers in the province of Homs, five in the province of Hama as regime forces raided the towns of Latamna, Morek, Souran, Halfaya and Karnaz, six in the province of Aleppo including a child as the heavy shelling continued in the towns of Ezaz, Kafarhalab and Indan which witnessed heavy skirmishes amid mass exodus, three in Damascus as the military offensive continued against the suburbs of Qatana, Douma, Harasta, Deir Aafir and Zabdin, and three in the province of Daraa, nine in the province of Deir Azzour.

The regime’s violations of human rights continued across the country as its forces shelled the villages of Jabal Akrad in the Latakia suburbs, the neighbourhoods of Al-Sad and the refugee camp in Daraa city, the towns of Yadouda, Khirbet Ghazaleh, Herak, Lajat, Baser Harir and Tal Shehab in the province of Daraa, the central city of Hama and the neighbourhood of Mashaa Arbaeen, the village of Twini and the town of Aleppo Road in the province of Hama, the neighbourhoods of Ommal, Jobaila, Mowathafin, Qosur, Baajain, Hamidiya, Arddi, Sheikh Yasin and Harabesh in the city of Deir Azzour, and the villages of Kharita, Mathloum, and the town of Shahil in the province of Deir Azzour.

Assad’s forces carried out massive arrest and sweep campaigns in the neighbourhoods of Maidan, Kafarsouseh, Barzeh, Qabun, Asali and Baghdad Street in the capital as well as in the neighbourhood of Masaken Hanano in the city of Aleppo.

Heavy widespread clashes were reported between armed resistance groups and regime forces in the province of Deir Azzour as well as in the neighbourhood of Ghweran in the province of Hasaka and Motahalek Janoubi road in the capital leaving six army personnel dead. Meanwhile, more than 47 soldiers defected in the town of Wadi Aabdin in the province of Daraa.

The regime sustained daily losses of more than US $80m as a result of the general strike that took place in the largest commercial centres of Damascus and Aleppo during the past two days.
