Assad’s forces killed at least 80 people today; 11 fell in Damascus suburbs, 15 in the province of Idlib as the heavy bombardment continued in the town of Ma’arrat Noman, Ma’arra Gharbiya, Khan Sheikhoun and Jeser Shoghour, nine in the province of Daraa including two children and three women as a result of the heavy shelling in the town of Mosefra and the village of Shajara, seven in towns of Talbiseh and Rastan and the neighbourhoods of Jouret Sheyah, Karm Ashami and Khaldiya in the province of Homs, three in Aleppo suburb, one in the province of Deir Azzour, and two in Latakia as the heavy shelling continued in the villages of Jabal Akrad.
The regime’s violations continued across the country as its forces shelled the Damascus suburbs of Mesraba, Madaya, Hamouriya, Harasta, Moadamiya, Douma, Zabadani, Qodseya and Erbin backed by military tanks and armoured vehicles. It also shelled the villages of Sahl Al-Ghab and the town of Taybet Imam in the province of Hama, the suburbs of Atareb, Jabal Qabtan, Bayanoun, Indan, Deir Jamal in the province of Aleppo, and the towns of Kharita, Shahil, Ashara, Quriya and Khasarat in the province of Deir Azzour.

Revolutionaries in the capital launched a widespread civil resistance campaign where they burned tires to block more than 50 major roads in condemnation of the regime’s violations. Security forces opened fire at activists in the neighbourhoods of Maidan and Kafarsouseh killing one.

Regime forces suffered heavy losses in the province of Deir Azzour as it continued to clash with the revolutionaries who destroyed 7 tanks, 3 armoured vehicles, 1 military helicopter and 2 APCs. The town of Ezaz in the suburb of Aleppo has also witnessed the defection of 68 soldiers who joined the ranks of armed revolutionaries and clashed with regime forces, destroying 4 busses and 2 military tanks stationed near Ezaz National Hospital. Three high-ranking officers also announced their defection and joined the revolutionaries.

The regime’s military operations and heavy shelling of the province of Daraa led to a massive exodus to Jordan where more than 1000 people crossed to the Kingdom on Monday evening. Relief officials described the incident as “a humanitarian crisis”.
