Summary of Events
Reports indicate that thousands of Syrians left Lebanon during the past three days after Hezbollah loyalists spread threats against Syrian Sunnis in light of the recent kidnapping of Lebanese in Aleppo. A video of a Syrian Sunni worker slaughtered by knife was circulated, triggering the massive exodus. The Lebanese abducted in Aleppo have proven to be Hezbollah officers and militants, however, regime and Hezbollah media outlets continue to call them “Shiite pilgrims”. Jordan denied entry to Syrians coming from Lebanon, Syria and the GCC countries fearing a surge of refugees.
Within the scope of Arab League sanctions, the League requested the Arab Satellite Communications Institution, Arabsat, and the Egyptian Satellite Company, Nilesat, to end all transmission of the regime’s official and unofficial satellite TV stations.
UN Observers visited the neighbourhood of Gharb Mashtal in the city of Hama accompanied by security forces, and the town of Basaqnoul in the province of Idlib where they were greeted by a massive anti-regime demonstration.
Assad’s forces killed at least 42 today; 16 fell in Idlib as the Syrian army shelled the towns of Habit and Kafar Aweid and opened heavy fire in the city of Maaret Noman, five in the province of Homs due to the shelling of the cities of Rastan, Houleh, Tal Kalakh, Qasir and Homs, and five in the northern Aleppo towns.
The regime’s violations to Annan’s plan continued as its forces conducted arbitrary arrests in the town of Ham Turkman in the province of Raqa, shelled the town of Sbekhan in the province of Deir Azzour with the air force, shelled the Damascus suburbs of Hamouriya and Saqba, shelled the towns of Kafarzeita and Latamna in the province of Hama with the air force and raided the towns of Morek and Kawkab amid heavy fire.
In the province of Daraa, regime forces opened heavy fire in the towns of Kherbet Ghazaleh, Tafas, Tesil and Naima. Regime militias clashes with revolutionaries as they tried to invade the town of Jiza.
