Summary of Events

Regime forces committed a new massacre in the Damascus suburb of Douma killing over 60 civilians comprising mostly of women, children and elderly. The massacre included entire families, who either died from the shelling, sniper rifles, or field executions that included slaughtering by knives.

The intense shelling campaign continued to target the city of Deir Azzour for the eighth day in a row resulting in the death of over 158 and the injury of over 2,000 civilians so far. The shelling campaign also continued in the province of Daraa with a noticeable escalation as the army shelled the refugee camp in the city of Daraa as well as the towns of Sheikh Meskin, Kafar Shams, Karak Sharqi, Othman, Dael, and Herak.

In addition to the massacre in Douma, the regime forces killed at least 70 people today; 13 fell in the province of Homs as the shelling renewed against the cities of Rastan, Houleh, Tal Kalakh, Qasir and Homs, 12 in Deir Azzour due to the continued shelling, 12 in the province of Hama including nine civilians who were field executed by regime militiamen, and 11 in the capital.

The regime’s violation continued throughout the country as its forces shelled the city of Atareb in the province of Aleppo, the towns of Shahshabo, Shaleen and Has in the province of Idlib, the cities of Hama, Karnaz and Maardas in the province of Hama, the village of Salma, Marj Zawiya, and Majdal Kekhiya in the province of Latakia, and the cities of Boukamal and Muhasan in the province of Deir Azzour. It also raided the village of Ashara and the city of Hama.

The capital witnessed heavy patrols of military helicopters which opened fire at the neighbourhoods of Jobar and Mazzeh randomly. The Syrian army also shelled the suburbs of Ain Terma, Zamalka, Hazze, Douma, Harasta, Moadamiya, Kafarbatna, Erbin and Damir.

On the other hand, revolutionaries announced the capture of two top ranking regime officers;  Brigadier General Munir Ahmad Shalabi of the General Intelligence Palestine Branch, and Major General Faraj Shihada Maqet.
