Summary of Events
The Assad regime intensified its military operations in the city of Deir Azzour resulting in the death of more than 60 civilians in the past 24 hours. Rockets, artillery and random shelling by the air force continued in the central residential neighbourhoods including Arfi, Muwazafin, and Hamidya, while snipers and army forces maintained a tight siege on the city amid a communication blackout. Furthermore, regime forces opened heavy fire at a funeral procession that took place in the neighbourhood of Mashtal today killing many participants.
Regime forces killed more than 131 today; 31 in the province of Deir Azzour, 26 in the suburbs of Damascus including 23 defectors executed by the regime in the suburb of Moadamiya, 24 in the province of Idlib including 20 detainees who were executed, and 20 in the province of Homs as the Syrian army continued to shell the cities of Homs and Kafar Aya.
The regime’s violations continued across the country, as its forces shelled the cities of Taftanaz, Kafarnabouda and Talmans in the province of Idlib, the towns of Bosr Sham and Bosr Harir and the city of Daraa in the Daraa province, the cities of Indan, Atareb and Jeena in the province of Aleppo, and the suburb of Hteitet Turkman in the suburbs of Damascus. The also shelled the city of Hama amid arbitrary arrests while opening heavy fire in the city of Helfaya. Heavy fire targeted the towns of Sahm Golan, Heet, Niwa, and Tal Shehab in the province of Daraa and the neighbourhoods of Tadamon and Barzeh in the capital.
