Summary of Events

Syrian air force pilot Colonel Hasan Mur’i landed with his Mig-21 jet plane in Jordan and asked for political asylum. The Syrian regime threatened the pilot with “grave repercussions” and deemed him a traitor, adding that it is talking with the Jordanian government to reclaim the airplane. Meanwhile, Jordanian authorities announced its approval of his asylum request in adherence to the Geneva Convention.

Syrian authorities committed several massacres in Syria including a field-execution of 19 civilians in the town of Inkhel in the province of Daraa. The bombardment of the town of Kafar Shamas in Daraa and the Damascus the suburb of Douma led to the death of 18 and 14 civilians, while the invasion of the neighbourhood of Deir Baalba in the city of Homs under the cover of heavy fire led to the death 14.

Regime forces killed at least 115 today; 37 fell in the province of Daraa, 32 in the province of Homs, and 24 in the suburbs of Damascus.

The regime’s violations continued across the country as its forces shelled the Damascus suburbs of Douma, Daraya, Sergaya, Misraba and Harasta, the cities of Homs, Rastan, Qasir, Latamna, Kafarnabouda, and Maaret Noman, and the villages of Deir Sanbal in the province of Idlib, Salma in Latakia, and Baida in the Tartous. It also raided the neighbourhood of Nahar Aisha in Damascus, and arbitrarily arrested over 100 civilians in the city of Hama.

The heavy bombardment campaign continued on the cities and villages north of the province of Aleppo, as regime forces shelled the cities of Ezaz, Atareb and Qibtan Jabal with helicopters and artillery.
