Summary of Events

A Russian ship carrying weapons and military equipment departed the port of St. Petersburg to the Syrian port of Tartous as reported by international media. Russia continues to sell the Assad regime weapons despite international arms trade embargo on the regime.

UN observers continued their duties as they visited the city of Hama, the towns of Hayan in Aleppo, and Hazano in Idlib accompanied by security personnel. On the other hand, the regime’s crimes against civilians continued as forces killed at least 32; ten in Idlib, nine in Homs, seven in Hama, including an entire family, and six in Damascus.

The regime’s violations to the ceasefire agreement continued, as its forces shelled the towns of Ada and Hayan in the province of Aleppo and opened heavy fire in the town of al-Bab, the neighbourhood of al-Hader in the city of Hama, the town of Bosra al-Sham, and the city of Daraa. Security forces also conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the towns of Jassem and Inkhel, and shelled the Damascus suburbs of Damir and Bait Jin.

Civil resistance activities continued in the country’s universities, as demonstrations and sit-ins took place in the universities of Aleppo and Deir Azzour to which regime forces reacted with arbitrary arrests.

US Ambassador to Lebanon called for the protection of refugees, defected regime personnel and the Syrian opposition in Lebanon, as Hezbollah, the Lebanese government, Amal movement, and the National Syrian Party continue to attack Syrians who oppose the Assad regime to hand them over to the regime’s intelligence branches.
